UPDATE: This past Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in London to engage in what was a remarkable public town hall discussion. The interest our community showed was unprecedented and truly inspiring. Many have noted it was the biggest political event in the city’s history! You can view the full video from the London town hall on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page here.
As a result of growing demand, the location of the town hall had to be changed twice. My team and I were advised by the City of London that they could no longer support the use of Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre and that the event would be cancelled due to the fact that an entire section of our city would have been shut down because of expected traffic. To prevent this, a final location change was made to Alumni Hall at Western University. Our new location allowed for almost a doubling of the event capacity.
With that said, not everyone who RSVP’d was admitted into the facility. As was always the case, sending an RSVP did not guarantee entry to the event – it only provided the opportunity to arrive early for advanced sign-in. Overwhelming interest, however, meant people arrived en masse and advanced sign-in was no longer possible. For that, I sincerely apologize. I truly wish everyone could have been present.
Finally, I would like to thank Western University, their incredible senior leadership team and dedicated staff who helped ensure that our Prime Minister could engage with as many Londoners as possible.
As always, should you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
