The Government of Canada is committed to having a sustained dialogue with Canadian youth about issues that matter most to them. It is extremely important to our Government that young Canadians become engaged citizens who are active participants in the democratic process. We want youth to have the ability to participate in a program that will build and shape the Canada of tomorrow.
As part of our Government’s engagement strategy, individual MPs are establishing local Youth Councils in their ridings. I am extremely proud to be working with a group of bright and passionate young Londoners who will serve on the London North Centre Youth Council.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Matthew Jones, Ryan Segal, Nicholas Lloyd-Holcombe, Ahmad Barzak, Blake Weber, Adam Wyville, Luke Sabourin, Kirstin Drummond, Rafay Ali, Harry Orbach Miller, Riley Spence, Bourhan Hasbini, Nicoletta Dasios, Patrick Colquhoun, Andrew Muchan, Kaygen Dache, Ashurina Odicho, Hadia Fiaz, David Vyn, Kelly Cipriani , Matthew Gennaro, Asiya Barakzai, Kendall O’Donnell, Arbella Yonadam, Samir Hamadache, Christopher Czepa, Meghan Botten, Sharanyan Satthiyaseelan, Alana Cameron, Ciara Chute, Jessica Ho, Deana Ruston, Danlei Chen, and Maryam Khan.
On Saturday November 26th, the Council held its first meeting. We had a robust dialogue, and subcommittees on Climate Change and the Environment, Youth Employment, Mental Health, Innovation and Canada’s Role in the World were formed. I look forward to listening to youth perspectives on these important issues!
